My name is Jovana and I’ve been a language enthusiast since I could talk. Learning new languages is my passion and up until now I have managed to reach decent levels in Dutch, English, German and Spanish. And of course, my mother tongue Serbian. There is a bit of Swahili left somewhere in the back of my mind too after an amazing learning experience with the museum of African art and a trip to Tanzania with my best friend. I studied Dutch language and literature during my bachelor studies in Belgrade and have spent two years in the Flemish speaking part of Belgium during my Master studies in Educational sciences.
I’ve been teaching Dutch and Serbian since 2012. and in the same year I started working in tourism that was blooming in Belgrade at that time. Connecting people through languages and culture is something that has made up a great part of my working years. One of the biggest lessons for me, while learning different languages, guiding and traveling has been the reflection about my own culture and language I would always return to and learn to cherish again and again. That’s what brought me to the idea to create something unique for you, Serbian learners out there and so Serbian in context was born. I hope you will find it useful and it will help you gain more confidence in your use of Serbian and help you feel more connected to Serbian people during your stay in Serbia.
